In 1961 George was commissioned by Sam Steiger, Gail Gardner's son-in- law,  to create a special painting for Gail's 66th birthday based on Gail Gardner's poem The Sierry Petes: (or Tying the Knots in the Devils' Tail). The oil painting is currently on display at the Phippen Museum in the James Gallery.
