The Beetle by Carolyn Schmitz

Somewhere in the Arizona desert, among the shrubs and wildflowers, a darkling beetle tiptoes along while two scruffy baby javelinas try to get a closer look. If the beetle feels threatened, he will spray them with a very pungent vapor. But the babies may not be deterred because their whole family has its own musty smell. Who is the stinkiest?
